Es gibt schon mal eine Vorschau in die neue Marriott / SPG Punktetabelle …

Marriott / SPG liefert uns heute den ersten Einblick in die neue Punktetabelle.

So stellt sich Marriott / SPG den Übergang ins neue gemeinsame Programm vor:

“You’ll be pleased to see that our move to one, combined Award Chart offers even more value for your points, with more hotels moving down in redemption rates than up.  This will hold true as we place all hotels in our new Award Chart in August.
+ The new Award Chart will debut in August, with standard redemption rates for Category 1–7 available to book. See the full Award Chart here.
+ Hotels slated for Category 8 will be placed temporarily in Category 7, until Category 8 is introduced in early 2019. This means even greater value – a savings of 25,000 points per night!
+ In early 2019, we’ll also introduce peak and off-peak redemption rates.
+ We’ll of course honor all redemptions made at current rates even if your stays occur after the new rates take effect. If your hotel is going to a lower redemption rate, you’ll want to rebook in August when the lower rate becomes effective.”

Am Beispiel Karibik, Bali, New York, Paris gibt man mal eine Vorschau auf die neue Punktetabelle. D. h. der derzeitige Zustand und die neue Einstufung im August wird mal gegenübergestellt. Manche Hotels gehen rauf, manche runter, eine sehr normale Sache.

Im August werden mal alle Hotels – auch die mit einem jetzt schon höheren Wert – auf 60 000 gesetzt. 2019 wird dann eine Kategorie 7 um 85 000 Punkte eingeführt.

Bei den reinen Suiten Hotels gibt es eine kleine Ungereimtheit. Da ist noch nicht so ganz klar, was passiert. Das St. Regis Bali wäre eigentlich ein reines Suiten Hotel, das landet bei dieser Vorschau in Kategorie 6 und kommt dann auf 60 000 Punkte.

In einem Interview mit dem SVP of Global Loyalty David Flueck erfahren wir aber diese Info:

“When we get through getting all of our properties into the new award chart, we’re also working through the suite pricing and some of those other prices which have required a few more points, which will still be the case in the new program. We’ve announced all of our award chart for the standard rooms and we’ll be rolling out the pricing for things like suites and other upgraded inventory.”

In einem früheren Interview mit VP Marriott Rewards Bob Behrens hat sich das noch anders angehört:

Q: Today a select list of SPG properties cost substantially more points than top tier 35K properties. They’re literally off the charts.  How much will they cost in the new program?
A: All properties, including those, will map to the category 1-8 chart (1-7 chart for 2018).  They will no longer be off the chart.”

Die reinen Suiten Hotels sind also nicht geklärt. Sonst ist diese erste Vorschau nicht wirklich extrem schlimm oder toll. Man passt einfach die Kategorien an.
