Im März wird die neue Kategorie 8 bei Marriott / SPG eingeführt …
Beim Merger hat Marriott eine kleine Schonfrist für eine neue Punktetabelle eingeführt. Die teuersten Hotels (auch die Hotels mit nur Suiten) sind derzeit in der Kategorie 7 eingeordnet. Ein neuer Zusatz wurde bei der Punktetabelle hinzugefügt:
“Save up to 25,000 points per night when you book future Category 8 hotels at the Category 7 rate until March 2019.”

Bis Ende März hat man also noch Schonfrist. Die spätere Kategorie 8 ist noch bei 7 eingeordnet, wird aber im März eine eigene Kategorie, nämlich 8.
Wer erst später genügend Punkte hat, kann ein für SPG Kunden neues Feature verwenden. Man kann auch ohne die benötigten Punkte reservieren. Zwei Wochen vor Anreise braucht man sie aber:
“If you do not have enough Points for the entire stay, you can still reserve your room at select hotels. When you make your reservation, you must select “Use Points.” Your room will be reserved, however, your Free Night Award will not be processed. Instead, you will receive an email confirmation of your room reservation only.
From the time of booking to at least 14 days before your arrival, you will either need to purchase Points (maximum 50,000 Points per account per year), or have additional stays to earn enough Points to cover the difference. If there are not enough Points within 14 days of the stay, the Free Night Award will be forfeited.”
Ob prinzipiell alle Hotels der zukünftigen Kategorie 8 da hineinpassen, das kann man sich auch mal fragen und überlegen. Da sind mitunter schon Häuser dabei, die irgendwie nicht so richtig in eine Top Kategorie passen.
