Accor wird nun auch grün. Man will alle Einweg-Plastikartikel vom Gast weg haben.

This action by Accor toward reducing environmental impacts and strengthening efforts to combat plastic pollution of the world’s oceans and other natural environments is a significant step forward for the global hospitality industry and for the group, which has been committed to sustainability for many years.

Welcoming over 120 million guests and serving more than 200 million meals each year, Accor takes its role as a responsible corporate citizen to heart, working within the framework of its sustainable development program, for the past 25 years. In addition to our previous commitment to eliminate all plastic straws, stirrers and cotton buds, today’s new commitment includes:
The removal of individual plastic toiletry amenities and cups by the end of 2020.
The elimination of all remaining single-use plastic items in guestrooms, meeting areas, restaurants and all leisure activities areas (spas, fitness centers, etc.) by the end of 2022.
Single-use plastics are defined as disposable items that are used only once and then discarded. Examples include plastic straws, cotton buds, coffee stirrers, plastic cups, plastic bags for laundry or extra pillows, plastic water bottles, all plastic packaging (for food, welcome products, etc), plastic take-away dishes and tableware, plastic gifts and welcome products (toiletries, slippers, pencils, etc), plastic keycards. Relevant alternatives to plastic will be proposed for each specific item, considering Life Cycle Assessments to ensure better environmental performance for the solution proposed to our hotels.”

Accor geht mit den Plänen sehr weit. Das ist sicher begrüßenswert. Oft ist Plastik einfach eine hygienische Verpackung. Auf die Alternativen kann man gespannt sein.

Das ist doch langsam echt lächerlich und wird nur noch zum Geld sparen genutzt. Momentan kann man doch alles als grün verkaufen, wenn man es nur gut umschreibt.
Ich hatte jetzt in mehreren Hotels in den USA diese Nachfüllbehälter und es war zu 90% einfach ekelhaft. Sie haben diese Behälter mit den dünnen Rüsseln oben und die sind verdreckt und verklebt. Da bringe ich lieber meine eigenen kleinen Flaschen mit. Mal abgesehen davon, dass ich einige einfach öffnen konnte und irgendwas hätte einfüllen können.
Und zu den Schlüsselkarten: Das App basierte System ist nicht ausgereift. In 50% der Fälle klappt das nicht richtig und selbst wenn, will ich auch nicht ständig das Handy mit herum schleppen.

Frage mich zumindest mit den Schlüsselkarten, was das soll. Wurden die bei Accor wirklich vorher nur einmalig benutzt und dann weggeschmissen? Habe nicht so drauf geachtet, aber in vielen Hotels bekommt man doch Karten die schon eindeutig mehrmals benutzt aussehen. Und das ist doch auch in Ordnung.
Ein App basierendes System als wählbare Alternative finde ich aber gut, da ich sowieso mein Handy immer bei mir habe. Dazu muss es dann aber zu 100% funktionieren. Sonst hat doch auch keiner nach dem ersten ausprobieren mehr Lust das zu benutzen.
Einige Sachen dürften aber für das Hotel gar nicht billiger werden. Zumindest wenn sie durch mehrfach zu benutzende Gegenstände ersetzt werden und durch das einsammeln und einlegen in die Spülmaschine und Reinigung der Sammelbehälter personalintensiver ist. Solche Plastikrührer kosten z.B. je Stück nichtmal 1 Cent. Bzw. die Wattestäbchen werden hoffentlich gegen welche bei denen das Mittelteil aus Recyclingpapier ist ersetzt.
