Mit dem Eurostar direkt nach Amsterdam oder bald vielleicht nach Deutschland …
Bis jetzt musste man mit dem Thalys von Amsterdam nach Brüssel. Dort ist man durch die Passkontrolle und hat den Eurostar nach London bestiegen. Nach Amsterdam wird es jetzt einfacher. Man macht die Kontrolle in London und fährt mit dem Eurostar direkt nach Amsterdam durch (ab April).

“Eurostar, the high-speed rail link between the UK and mainland Europe, today announces that from the 30th April its London-Amsterdam service will operate fully direct both to and from the Netherlands. Tickets for the direct return journey will be on sale from 11th February 2020.
Since 2018, Eurostar has provided a seamless journey from London to Amsterdam and Rotterdam. The new connection – direct both ways – will offer hassle-free travel between these iconic European cities and a compelling reason for travellers to switch from plane to train.
With competitive fares from just £35 each way, tickets are available from 11th February, for travel from Amsterdam starting on 30th April and from Rotterdam on 18th May 2020.
There are currently three outbound services a day from the UK to the Netherlands. The direct inbound journey from Amsterdam to London will start with two services, with the aim of increasing to a third, and then a fourth.”

Direkt nach Amsterdam reicht Eurostar noch nicht. Man will weiter nach Deutschland:
“EUROSTAR chief executive Mike Cooper has told Railnews that he is delighted with the launch of through trains from Amsterdam to London, and is hoping that the next stage of Eurostar’s development will see its route network extended into Germany.
A key factor is the proposed merger of Eurostar and Thalys, which already runs high speed trains between Paris or Lille to Brussels, continuing from there to Amsterdam or Germany, where Thalys serves a number of cities including Cologne, Düsseldorf, Essen and Dortmund.”
