In Budapest wachsen gerade Luxushotels wie Pilze. Mandarin Oriental hat einen ambitionierten Plan für ein neues high-end Hotel vorgestellt. 2027 will man im derzeit sehr runtergekommenen Gellert Hotel das Mandarin Oriental Gellert eröffnen.

renovation and rebranding of the former Gellért Hotel in Budapest. The renamed Mandarin
Oriental Gellert, Budapest is expected to open in 2027 as a reimagined Art Nouveau
architectural gem with a focus on wellness.

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental Gellert, Budapest will feature seven experiential areas offering
contemporary wellness and aesthetic treatments. These include exclusive bathing experiences which will mix the Group’s signature Asian therapies with Eastern European spa and beauty treatments that celebrate Hungary’s historic bathing and spa culture.
Mandarin Oriental Gellert, Budapest will also offer a Fitness and Movement Studio as well as
an indoor pool on the top floor, positioned under a retractable glass ceiling with a vitality tub, sauna, cold plunge pool and outdoor relaxation area. It adjoins a rooftop bar with panoramic views of the Pest side of the city and the famed Danube River.
Large open areas on the hotel’s ground and first floors are set to accommodate an indoor-
outdoor speciality restaurant, again featuring scenic city and Danube views. Building on
Budapest’s famed baking heritage, a patisserie and café will serve as a gathering spot for both locals and visitors, while a while a spacious, fully restored Art Nouveau ballroom will become a sought after venue for events.”

Spannend wird was mit dem Gellert Bad im gleichen Gebäude passiert. Wenn sie das ins Hotel eingemeinden, wird das eine heftige Hardware für ein Luxushotel sein.

Das ist ja ein Ding. Das Hotel sieht ja von außen schon imposant aus. Aber ich denke doch nicht, dass das Bad dann nur noch zum Hotel gehört. Das ist doch öffentlich. Da war ich selbst schon, auch wo das Hotel schon geschlossen war. Das wäre extrem schlecht, muss ich sagen, wenn die das für die Öffentlichkeit schließen. Aber gehört das überhaupt zum Hotel oder wird das nicht extra betrieben?
Wikipedia sagt, das würde zum Hotel gehören. Ich kann mir aber auch nicht vorstellen, dass man das Bad weiter so halb kaputt laufen lässt und darüber das high-end Mandarin Oriental sein würde.
Ich kann halt nur sagen, dass ich dort war, als das Hotel bereits geschlossen war. Und ja, es gibt Teile des Bades, die mal renoviert werden könnten, aber im Großen und Ganzen habe ich mich da recht wohlgefühlt. Ich würde das jederzeit wieder machen. War jetzt auch nicht ganz günstig. Und man sollte sich vorher die Regeln anschauen, sonst wird es richtig teuer.
BTW: Hier steht, dass die Hotelrenovierung nicht das Bad betrifft. Auf einer anderen Seite habe ich allerdings gefunden, dass sie es schon renovieren wollen, aber eben weiter öffentlich.
