IHG baut die Marken des besseren Segments endlich aus. Die IHG Fans können bei diesen News ein wenig abfeiern. Europa erhält zwei neue Intercontinental Hotels.
Intercontinental Athenee Palace Bukarest 2023
Intercontinental kommt nach Bukarest zurück. Nachdem man vor einem Jahr das alte Intercontinental verloren hat, ist man in Bukarest zurück. Nach einer Renovierung wird das ehemalige Hilton Athenee Palace als Intercontinental wiedereröffnet.

Set to open in January 2023, IHG is working with long-standing business partner ANA Hotels, one of the largest Romanian-based hotel owners, to create a truly iconic hotel in the heart of Bucharest. ANA Hotels has owned and operated IHG’s popular Crowne Plaza Bucharest for many years.
With the building dating back to 1914, InterContinental Athénée Palace Bucharest will comprise 283 guest rooms, with many boasting panoramic views of Ateneului Park and the Romanian Athenaeum. The hotel is located in the heart of the city close to Palace of the Parliament, one of the world’s largest buildings, and is just a 40-minute drive from Henri Coandă International Airport.”

Intercontinental Tirana 2024
Das mit nicht sehr vielen internationalen Hotels gesegnete Tirana erhält 2024 ein Intercontinental.

“IHG® Hotels & Resorts (IHG®), one of the world’s leading hotel companies, is delighted to announce the signing of the Franchise Agreement with InterContinental Tirana, a brand debut for InterContinental Hotels & Resorts in Albania.
Due to open in 2025, IHG recently signed a Franchise Agreement with Mr. Ram Geci, Owner and President of Geci Group, one of Albania’s leading infrastructure companies, which also specialises in hospitality and tourism. The company has around 20 years’ experience in hospitality, having been a shareholder since 2004 and Sole Owner of Tirana International Hotel, Tirana, Albania, since 2011.
The new-build InterContinental Tirana hotel will have around 300 rooms and suites, a large conference centre with a ballroom and a capacity of up to 1,000 people for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions) events and weddings. There will also be a luxury spa, and a rooftop restaurant and bar with panoramic views of the city. The hotel will be located within Tirana’s main Skanderbeg Square, close to key attractions such as the National Historical Museum, Castle of Tirana, Opera House, Art Gallery and the main institutions like the Albanian Parliament, Ministries, National Bank of Albania and Tirana Municipality. The property is just 15 minutes’ drive from Tirana International Airport.”

Für Honors-Diamonds keine gute Nachricht. Das Athenne war das beste Hilton in Bukarest, zumindest auch mit Lounge, wollte immer mal hin. Jetzt mit Interconti muss man sich mit dem IHG-Platinum rumschlagen
Geht mir genauso. Als IHG Spire wird man bestimmt nicht in die Lounge kommen. Immerhin gibt es wahrscheinlich die Möglichkeit über Virtuoso zu buchen.
Kann es sein, dass das Hilton schon auf den Interconti Standard renoviert wurde. Bis zum Jahresende kann man es häufig für rund 100 Euro buchen. Dann wäre das ein super Deal. Als Interconti im neuen Jahr wird es bestimmt viel teurer
Momentan interessiert mich eher das neue Autograph Collection in Bukarest. YHBU bitte dahin und berichte ;-)
