Das Park Hyatt Tokyo erhält einen Refresh …
Park Hyatt Tokyo ist ein legendäres Haus und muss man mal gemacht haben. Viele kennen es wahrscheinlich vom Film Lost in Translation mit Bill Murray und Scarlett Johansson. Dieser Spielfilm dreht sich um das Park Hyatt und kommt wie eine Karikatur rüber. Das Park Hyatt ist aber wirklich so und der Film überzeichnet nicht einmal.
Ich habe schon mehrere Stays dort absolviert. Jedes Mal wenn ich in Tokyo ein anderes Hotel buche, muss ich es mir selbst rechtfertigen, dass ich nicht das Park Hyatt wähle. Wenn ich nicht einen Travel Blog schreiben würde, dann würde es wahrscheinlich immer das Park Hyatt sein.
Das Design des Hotels ist – neben dem Service – sehr außergewöhnlich. Das Hotel nimmt die obersten Etagen eines Hochhauses ein und hat man komplett verrückt eingerichtet. Das Eruopa Thema in Tokyo kombiniert mit der Zen-Innengestaltung macht einen sehr starken Eindruck.
Drei Jahrzehnte hat man das ursprüngliche Design erhalten. Irgendwann mal hat man Teppiche gewechselt. Manche Reisende – gerade in den Zimmern – haben in letzter Zeit schon ein ein wenig über den Zustand geklagt.
Das ändert sich jetzt. Das Park Hyatt Tokyo erhält für einhalb Jahre eine Generalsanierung und will 2025 wieder aufsperren.

“Park Hyatt Tokyo announces plans for a property-wide renewal of its guestrooms and facilities starting in spring 2024. The hotel will suspend operations from May 7, 2024 and is slated to reopen in the 2nd quarter of 2025. The planned enhancements coincide with the hotel’s 30th anniversary, ushering in a new chapter for the hotel, aimed at elevating the guest experience and revitalizing its iconic ambiance. Locals and worldly travelers alike have cherished the hotel as a sophisticated home-away-from-home since its opening in 1994, and the forthcoming updates will bring a fresh, modern feel to the already-renowned property.
To continue meeting the needs of today’s discerning travelers while preserving the hotel’s distinct and timeless design concept, acclaimed design agency Jouin Manku has been chosen to lead the transformation respecting the beloved design philosophy of the hotel’s notable original interior designer, John Morford.

Man kann nur hoffen, dass sie nur Marmor, Fliesen, Teppiche und Verschleißteile austauschen, aber das ursprüngliche Konzept beibehalten. Wir haben leider auch schon verschlimmbesserte Park Hyatt Renovierungen gesehen. Das bei der Eröffnung sehr gute Park Hyatt Peking hat man bei der letzten Renovierung zu einem chinesischen Grand Hyatt aus der Retorte gemacht.
