„What happened to Malaysia Airlines’ in-flight caterer?
Malaysia Airlines has concluded its longstanding partnership with its anchor caterer, Brahim’s Food Services based in Kuala Lumpur, and are transiting to a new catering service on selected domestic and international routes within Malaysia Airlines’ network.
To ensure minimal disruption to our customers’ comfort and overall experience, we will be offering alternative F&B options while actively exploring a new service provider that aligns with our unwavering commitment to delivering premium customer experiences.
When will the meal adjustments take effect?
The change in meal offerings will take effect from 1 September 2023.
Does that mean we won’t be served meals or refreshments on our flight?
You will still be provided with meals and/or refreshments on your flight, however, affected passengers will receive revised meal offerings and pre-packed meals – depending on the class of travel and flight duration.
What are the affected flights?
The routes affected by the change in meal offerings include domestic and selected international routes operated by Malaysia Airlines.
Passengers who are affected by the change in meal offerings will be notified via email and SMS. We urge you to update your contact details via ‘My Booking’ on our website to ensure that you receive timely updates from us.
What is the difference between pre-packed meals and revised meals?
Pre-packed Meals
Primarily offered for shorter routes. Pre-packed meals consist of ambient components such as bakery items, sweets, biscuit & drinks – depending on travel class and flight duration.
Revised Meals
On longer flights, we will offer a revised meal structure that has been carefully designed to ensure your nourishment during the journey.
When will things go back to normal?
Malaysia Airlines remains focused and is excited to introduce new inflight meals in the upcoming months as we onboard additional partners to further enhance our onboard offerings. Please rest assured that our dedicated team is committed to upholding the highest level of quality for the in-flight meals we provide.
Why did Malaysia Airlines not proactively appoint a new in-flight caterer sooner?
To ensure minimal inconvenience to your comfort and overall journey, we have initiated a robust business continuity plan effective from 1 September 2023 to provide alternative food and beverage options while actively exploring a new service provider that aligns with our unwavering commitment to delivering premium customer experiences.
Please rest assured that our dedicated team is wholeheartedly focused on enhancing our offerings, and we genuinely appreciate your understanding and patience throughout this process.
Can I bring my own meals during this time?
Passengers may bring their own meals onboard subject to liquids, aerosols, and gels (LAGs) requirements. LAGs must not exceed 100ml per the requirements for international passengers departing from or transiting at international airports in Malaysia.
Self-heating meals and non-halal meals are strictly prohibited.
Will special meals, Chef-on-Call, meal upgrade and pre-booked meals be available during this time?
We regret to inform that all special meals, Chef-on-Call, meal upgrade, and pre-booked meals will be unavailable during this time on the affected routes.
We encourage passengers with special dietary or medical requirements to bring their own meals onboard subject to liquids, aerosols, and gels (LAGs) requirements at the departing airports on international flights.“
