Die Gangtey Lodge in Bhutan hat geantwortet – Interessant für alle die mit Hilton Honors SLH Hotels buchen

Bei SLH Buchungen über Hilton Honors sollte man aufpassen …

Vor einigen Tagen habe ich euch mein Leid mit Hilton Honors und der Buchung eines SLH Hotels (Gangtey Lodge) in Bhutan geschildert: Mein absolutes 420.000 Hilton Honors Punkte Buchungsdesaster mit der Gangtey Lodge (Bhutan)

Lasst mich die Geschichte schnell zusammenfassen. Gangtey Lodge ist ein hoch prämiertes Hotel, liegt auf 3.000 Meter hinter einem Pass, eine Tagesfahrt von Thimpu entfernt. Das ist schon ein wenig einsam. Ich war wegen Infos für eine Anreise schon vorher mit dem Hotel in Kontakt. Habe Hilton Honors Punkte gekauft und schließlich 420.000 Punkte für 5 Nächte (5. Nacht kostenlos) eingesetzt. Es hat sich dann herausgestellt, dass Hilton Honors mich in ein geschlossenes Hotel eingebucht hat und mir diese Buchung bestätigt hat.

Der Hilton Diamond Desk war komplett absurd unterwegs und eher problematisch als hilfreich unterwegs. Meine Highlights beim Diamond Desk waren, als mich ein Mitarbeiter ernsthaft gefragt hat, welcher Bundesstaat der USA Bhutan nicht wäre. Interessant war auch ein Agent am Diamond Desk, der mir geraten hat die E-Mail über die Schließung des Hotels zu ignorieren und einfach mal dorthin zu fahren. Also man hat mir wirklich aufgetragen hinter einem Pass im Hochgebirge eine Tagesfahrt von Thimpu entfernt mal zu schauen, ob denn das Hotel offen hätte.

Bei mir hat sich jetzt der Besitzer der Gangtey Lodge gemeldet und sich sehr ausführlich entschuldigt. Normalerweise erlebt man bei Schreiben von Hotels so aneinandergefügte Textbausteine. Hier hat man sich richtig Mühe gegeben und um fair zu bleiben, gebe ich das mal hier so wieder:

• In retrospect, our reservations manager should have alerted you that we were closing the hotel for annual maintenance for large parts of July. This had been decided at a time of very low occupancy only a few days prior to your enquiry. Since the enquiry was for a transfer and no dates were mentioned at this point, our manager did not see the urgency of mentioning the closure.
• The link between Hilton honours and our hotel is not a live feed, and of course you could not possibly know this. It is absolutely true that you received an official confirmation notice from Hilton, but the same notice states clearly that the booking is NOT actually confirmed until we the hotel confirm it. From your perspective, however this is undeniably misleading and we have prior to this occasion already informed SLH (our direct counterpart) that the „confirmation Notice“ is very misleading for the prospective customer. In this case, where we have been totally at fault was failing to immediately inform SLH and Hilton to block off those dates to avoid this booking being accepted through the system.
• We are surprised at such a response since there is never any contact between Hilton and ourselves, so I will not comment further on any additional points relating to Hilton in this case.
• As above, our delay in informing Hilton (through SLH) has resulted in this misinformation. It has then taken another couple of days for Hilton to finally reflect on our maintenance closure in July on their system, which we are unable to access.
• Again we failed to reconfirm back to you that a stay in July was not possible as mentioned earlier and that from Gangtey Lodges side we had never confirmed the booking. By this time, at our request, Hilton had blocked the rooms for maintenance, so the system with Hilton would have cancelled the booking confirmation notice. Once again, I completely agree that from your perspective as the customer, this is extremely misleading.

Ich habe wirklich Respekt, dass man hier doch zugibt, dass Dinge nicht so perfekt gelaufen sind. Diese Hilton Honors und SLH Partnerschaft scheint noch nicht ganz glatt zu laufen.

Konsequenzen für alle die SLH Hotels über Hilton Honors buchen

Für jeden der über Hilton Honors SLH bucht ergeben sich daraus Folgerungen, dir mir vorher nicht so ganz klar waren.

• Hilton Honors hat scheinbar bei einigen SLH Hotels keine synchrone Abbildung der Buchungslage. Es kann also im schlimmsten Fall sein, dass das Hotel eigentlich geschlossen ist, man aber locker Buchungen bei Hilton durchführen kann.
• Man erhält zwar eine Confirmation E-Mail von Hilton mit „Your reservation has been confirmed“. Das muss aber scheinbar bei einigen Hotels manuell eingepflegt werden. Eine Bestätigung von Hilton bedeutet also scheinbar gar nichts und es kann sich noch alles ändern.

Ob diese zwei Punkte bei allen SLH Hotels zutreffen kann ich nicht sagen. Ich habe mittlerweile viele Buchungen bei SLH über Hilton Honors absolut ohne Probleme durchgeführt. Es scheint aber möglicherweise Probleme bei der Synchronisierung einiger Häuser zu geben. Wer da bei Hilton Honors mit SLH unterwegs ist, sollte sich dieser Thematik bewusst sein. Allzu schnell kann aus einer Buchung vielleicht auch eine Stornierung werden.
